| STS stands for Smart Task Selection. The basic idea is that doing the right thing at the right time is the key to success. What STS comes down to is setting the proper priorities and doing these tasks. It allows the user to ask the question, "What's next" and the system will tell you what to do.
Imagine software that new what you should do to achieve your goals, success and even make you happier. The question is what is my MIT or Most Important Task. There's only one. If you always work on your MIT you'll achieve whatever you want. The hard part is to determine what's your MIT. This is basically a decision. The first thing to do is look at deadlines and commitments. Also look at the value of doing a task and the value of not doing a task. As I write this I have a commitment to identify the capacity of a program I wrote and to do it by tomorrow. I believe that doing the right thing at the right time is extremely important. The idea for this came to me from software I wrote in the 80's to help me listen to music. This was pre-ipod. I noticed that I wasn't listening to my music collection much so I developed software that would randomly select an album to play from a list of my albums. I found that this worked really well and would get me to listen to albums I hadn't heard in a long time.
