| Averages can be calculated in Excel via the =Average( ) function
Sometimes you need to calculate it from Sum of a range / count of a range. The average value can summarize a large dataset. Say you have a thousand numbers, what can you tell about the data? The average, also known as the mean is the middle point of a dataset. Averages can be misleading because one very large number can skew the average. Say you have 5 people in the room and one is Waren Buffett and you want to calculate the average net worth
Figure out the average using Excel: Note that the average doesn't describe the data as well as the Median which is the middle point.
