If you had to get rid of half the tasks, books, projects, chores, etc. which would you keep? Now take these and do it again. You now have the 75-25 rule which is close enough to the 80-20 rule. If you're getting too much work assigned to you, let your boss know. Don't be a perfectionist as this can increase the feeling of being overwhelmed. Focus on the present and not some unknown future. Give yourself more time. For example, some people will become overwhelmed because of too many things due at the same time, like mid-terms or finals in school. The way to mitigate this is to prepare further in advance than waiting for the last minute to cram. |
