    (started at 10:29 am - 1:30 pm - 3 hours)

Hello uh, Periscope world. Al Berg here, with Lola. (Lola stands at top of staircase unleashed) Lola! Lola! Say hello.

(Lola looks at camera and licks her chops)

Lola, as you notice, is right here. We're getting ready for our walk. And Lola has learned, (spoke softly) Well I taught her. (back to normal voice). Lola has learned to not go down the stairs without me going down the stairs first. (I bend down to attach her leash) and if she does I will correct her.

Welcome, everybody. We're just gonna walk with me doggy. So, welcome everybody. Hi Lolie. So we're gonna show you right now... She doesn't go down the stairs. She knows until I come (I start walking down and Lola follows) she won't walk down the stairs and I trained her for that (Lola runs down the next flight of stairs) uh okay she came down so I bring her back (slight tug on leash). Now she's gonna have to wait. Okay, she's not perfect. So but as you can see (I walk down the stairs) she waits for me (Lola's running out in front of me) to come down the stairs and one thing I do on my walks is I let her go ahead of me.  I'm okay with that. Some people (meant to say dog trainers) like Cesar Millan is against that. And I kinda feel that she's a beagle and it's her nature to be in the lead.

If she was a disobedient dog I would never do this. And I have an extend-a-leash with me. Hopefully [the video] is not too bumpy.

    A Hunting we Will Go

We're heading to the park. She sees something (1:34). (Lola sees a rabbit) There's a rabbit there. Let's try to get this is should be interesting. Okay ready? (camera turned to horizontal mode). Ready. Slow. (Lola waits for me to bring her into street). Slow. Let's go. (tug on leash). Slow! She's hunting now. There is a rabbit there (camera pans too quickly. Should pause and zoom to rabbit). (Lola rushes to rabbit) Too fast too fast. Slow down. Slow down. There's a car coming too. (tug on leash) There is a rabbit. The rabbit's right there. (Dog and rabbit in frame) I don't know if you can see it? Slow down. Slow down. This is Lola with the rabbit (said like a play-by-play announcer). (Rabbit runs)

(in high voice) Bunny got away.(normal voice). I want you to see her tail. (tail is wagging while erect). Now you see her tail is wagging? Just because a dog's tail is wagging doesn't mean they're friendly. I don't know if you can see it. The rabbit just went by. She wants that rabbit so badly. (high voice) Come here! Come here! (Lola turns and comes back to me)

    Gentle Command

You want a treat instead? How about you get a treat instead of eating the rabbit? Come here. I'll give you a treat here (Lola does different tail wag). I have a treat for you. What's better a treat or a rabbit?

And she's going to get one of these. (I show the treat) Gentle. She also knows how to take it gently. Gentle! (Dog takes treat softly). That was a good girl.

    Recap for New Joiners

Hello, everybody, we're on a walk with Lola. My beagle mix, 5 years old. How's everybody doing tonight? We just had excitement tonight there was a rabbit, our first rabbit. (dog is peeing notice curved tail)

    Hunting Tail

You still see the rabbit (hunting tail). Where's the rabbit? Come on you still see the rabbit, pure hunting pose. (anger) That's somebody's yard we can't go there. Come on. Let's go.

    Correcting Street behavior

Uh uh uh (tug leash and the dog jumps back to the sidewalk) Back up ok, again she went into the street, so I just had to remind her. She's not allowed to go in [the street] until I go in. (Lola looks up at me). It's a good way to train your dog and keep them out of the street. Not that she'll do it every time but she's pretty good with it. (Lola crosses street).

    Smelling and Peeing

So we've encountered one rabbit. Really when you walk a dog it's about smelling and peeing. And at the end, they're probably a poop.

    Shaky Image

(Camera shakes)I'm sure this is too shaky. One of these days I'll invest in a better camera doesn't uh shake so much. Pretty soon we'll be at the park so the shaking will stop I apologize.

    Come Back

How's everybody today? See if that's better (I walk on lawn). Welcome everyone, we're on a walk with my 5 year old beagle... one thing also she's learned is "Come back, let's go." (Lola comes back with happy tail wag) She knows "come back." Where you going?

    Paw Bend
(5:04) (Lola notices a smell, makes a quick right turn, smells grass and does the paw bend) "Where you going you a fast doggy?"

    Bicycling

I've tried riding a bike with her. She actually knows how to do it but gets very tired. We should try it again.

    Communicates with body positioning

"What you doing?" Here she is, we're at the street, she wants to go this way (I'm pointing but you can't see it) and she's waiting for me. "Come on! (softly) come on." She's actually very communicative which is kind of cool.

Welcome and thank you for the hearts. Um, this is Lola. We're heading for the park. Oh wow (as she passes a fire hydrant but then turns and stops). I was gonna say she just passed by a fire hydrant especially a red one.

We're coming up on her boyfriend, not really her boyfriend, but there's a dog, of all the dogs in the world there's one dog she's in love with and we're coming up to his house. He's a male dog, she's a female. She's a bitch. (funny accent). Oy! (I trip in hole in grass). I'm tripping here. More smelling.

    Pausing at curb

Here again, she came to the... I've come to the ... I'm not putting tension on the leash (b/c it's an extend-a-leash), it's hard to see. (I show no tension), she's waiting for me to cross. She's very good that way. I got to teach her to look both ways. "Did you look both ways?"

    Meeting other Dogs

(7:00) Welcome, everybody. We're out with a walk for Lola. For Lola? With Lola. And uh I'm just gonna talk about a few things but I'll wait until I get to the park. I might just play some music today. I don't know if people like 80's music? I have a lot of 80's music.

(I see dogs) Oh, there some dogs out there. I' don't like these two dogs. You can see them from here (camera pans to dogs). I don't think this guy controls them well. They bark a lot and they're very aggressive. Maybe you'll see some aggressive stuff from a dog. But the key is to remain calm. (Lola spots the dogs 7:24) (barking/howling starts) Very noisy. So you hear them. (These dogs have a very aggressive sounding bark when I pass them behind their fence)

(I meet the owner)"How ya doin? I know they probably want to meet her? right? ... They do? If they calm down a little bit I'll a... I'll see what [Lola] wants. (Lola pulls me away) Unfortunately, she's not interested. Take care."

Okay so, that's how you meet a dog. You look out for signs. I've seen those dogs before and they're ... they bark a lot but I don't think they're that evil. I don't think they're bad dogs. They get a little barky. So what I did was I stayed away. Stayed back. And I looked at what she was feeling. She didn't want to meet them. She didn't like them. Two of them. I don't like being outnumbered by dogs. So that an uncomfortable feeling cause they're a pack and she's not. (Lola kicks up grass after peeing) They might have just wanted to meet her. I'm sure they're probably good dogs. They presented themselves poorly. If you noticed (I didn't get this on the video) the owner did no corrections at all. Doesn't know how to correct them. Doesn't know how to walk them. There's another dog across the street. (high voice) "See the doggy. Another doggy."

    Author's Meetup

(normal voice) We'll be at the park soon. Hopefully, it will be less bouncy. I'll put some music on for your listening pleasure. So um one of the things I was gonna talk about a little bit about was that I joined a meet up (hear buzzing due to incoming phone call). I joined a meetup and it's a meetup of authors. I'm an author. My name is Al Berg. I'm the author of 33 Key Principles for Success. If you like anything I'm saying you could purchase the book it's pretty cheap on Kindle and I'm still working on it. I'll put up a new version at some point. But uh, so one of the things with this meetup is that uh we're gonna be meeting in a bookstore and we can present parts of our book. My first time so I'm a little nervous (I should have said excited) about it. I'll probably do some live periscopes just to practice. Being nervous is actually okay.

    Welcome to the Jungle

(Camera spins around as I get tangled in leash). Sorry about that. That was the leash around me spin. Being nervous is okay. There's a cat over there. It's like a regular jungle over here. "Where'd you go? Where'd you go? You're hard to see." She's hard to see. It's pretty dark and getting dark. (Geese sounds) There's some geese now. (Point camera at sky) It's a potpourri of animals. "Wait for me. Wait for me." (Lola smells a passerby) The geese left.

    Here comes the poop

(10:40) "Go ahead." (Dog does pre-poop behaviors) She's gonna poop. Here comes the poop. There she goes. This is her poop place. She's actually ready to poop. Once you know your dog. ... When the tail is horizontal like that it means she's pooping so. I'll try to clean this up quickly. We'll go into the park. I'll put on some music. We'll chat.

How's everybody's night going? How is everybody's day or night going so far? Mine is pretty good. Happy Friday everybody. For some reason, Friday's are the best. Just like Monday's are the worst.

Now I gotta find this thing. It's so funny that she's just doing that (kicking up dirt). Thanks. Let me see if I can get this poop.

So one of the problems with a dog is picking up poop. She's ready to go into the park already. I'll come back. We're not going to get it now we'll come back and get it. I'll come back. I'm gonna remember. Okay it's just hard to pick it up [and walk dog, periscope at the same time]. Okay, wait for me. Wait, wait. Stop, stop. I'm giving her some short tugs on the leash.

    Release the Hound

(12:17) So let me take this off (removing her leash and Lola runs off) "Hey hey did I say you can go." She's off and running.  where are you going?"

    80s Music Fail

Let me see if I can put on 80's music if anyone cares. So anyway so, one of the things with this meetup, in a bookstore, is I get to ... 1800 words. On one hand, it's exciting. It kind of was my goal to read my book in a bookstore (I better do it quickly before they're all closed). She's hard to see now. I'll have to get out the uh flashlight. Okay, here's the flashlight. There she is. I don't know how I'm going to do this. I need to get some contraptions to hold the flashlight, hold the music, "You're a pisser." It's a nice field. I don't know if you can see it. I come here almost every day. Okay so let's ... welcome, everybody. "What are you doing?" She's looking... This is her "I want a treat." "It's too dark." She's waiting for something. We play a game, I throw a treat and she gets it. "Ok, I'll get you one. Okay her it goes." Okay so we're going to throw a treat. This is the treat. She's gonna smell it. "Okay ready?" (excited voice) (I throw treat) "Go find it?" I have no idea where it went. Look at that.

Let's see if I can get this to work? You might not like my music but ...

"Did I forget my player?" (I find it) "Oh here it is, here it is." Of course, I got a crappy old vintage iPod you can see that. It doesn't work well. (rest of video trying to get it to work, I just had to press the play button)...

(16:13) Of course, why would it work? Why would it work? I try it again. It's on auxiliary. Probably just needs to be charged. Plugged in, plugged in. Just nothing. Okay. In that case nobody's on. So we'll call it. Not my best cast. And this shows that why being prepared is a good idea. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great evening. Al Berg; Key Principles for Success, 33. Signing off.
