I recently turned 53 years old and was frustrated that my weight was creeping up. At the age of 18 I weighed 150 pounds but 35 years later I was 185 pounds. That's a pound a year for 35 years.

So on November 21, 2012 I attempted to lose weight using my bathroom scale and Excel. That first day I weighed 182 lbs. Five days later my weight crept up to 185.6 due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday. I was ready to give up but decided that day to get back to my goal weight of losing one pound per week doing whatever I needed to do.
Nine days later on November 30, 2012 I weighed 180.6 lbs. which was below my goal on that date.
On December 15, 2012 while searching for domain names I found that the ExcelDiet.com was available. I started to blog about my weight loss and build up the website, spreadsheet and rules to document what I was doing to help others lose weight also. I wrote my first blog entry on the Excel Diet on December 22nd.
My weight loss was working this time. I kept adjusting what I was doing. I came up with a number of rules that made it possible for me to lose weight. I'm sure they will also work for you. The two simple rules I used were measure and adjust.
