How to eat out when on a diet?

If you're eating out and below the line then enjoy whatever you like, though this comes at a price. If you're above the line you could:
  • reduce the calories you have at other meals
  • eat the low calorie foods on the menu
  • skip appetizers and desserts
  • cut your portion in half and take it home for another day
  • ask the restaurant to put half on your plate and half in a doggy bag
  • get all sauces and dressings on the side
  • skip the bread
  • skip the alcohol
  • substitute french fries for a vegetable
  • Go with chicken or fish over meats
  • Do extra exercises that day. Example walk an hour during your lunch hour
  • Eat a burger but skip the top bun
  • Don't drink calories
  • Eat at restaurants that post their calories
  • Research calories on internet before going to the restaurant
  • Avoid fried foods
  • Try to get below your goal before you go out so you can eat what you want
  • Reduce calories for other meals that day
  • Increase exercise that day
  • Walk to the restaurant
